| Setting up your Windows 95/98/NT computer for DSL |
These instructions are for both ADSL and SDSL services. For SDSL services, your router will come equipped with multiple ports for multiple computers. For ADSL service, your modem has one port for one computer. If you desire to use this connection for multiple computers, you will need to purchase additional hardware and will need to configure this equipment yourself. DSL.com does not support more than one computer on the ADSL line. The hardware installer should have set up your router (modem) for you. You must configure any PC’s you have to enable them to communicate with the router. You will need to get your list of IP addresses that is sent to you via email with your installation date. You will need this information: |
| Your IP Addresses are as follows: |
| DNS name server Addresses: |
The IP usable range is the valid IP addresses for the machines you have in your LAN (local network). The router or gateway address is for the router itself. The subnet mask is for your network. You'll need to choose a unique hostname for each PC. You will set a domain name for your LAN, which can be an "official" registered name like yahoo.com or just a local name that you've picked like mycompany. |
